Blood Donation Camp

The much awaited Blood Donation Camp of the Rotary Club of Kalimpong was successfully conducted as under- 31st July, 2022 venue- Rotary Centre, Taboban, Kalimpong, Time- 9:30 am.

This camp was organized in association with the Kalimpong Blood Centre. Indian red cross Society, Kalimpong District Committee and Kalimpong District Voluntary Blood Donors Forum. Our First donor was none other than Rtn. Dr. Sangay Zimba followed by the General Manager of Mayfair Himalayan Spa and Resort, Mrs. Ranjeeta Mahopatra. The Mayfair group donated eight units of Blood in all and also donated relief materials for the social projects of Rotary Club of Kalimpong.

Representatives of Various Samaj also came forward for the blood donation like- Bela Samaj, Atisha Kalyan Samaj, Mangaldara Welfare Samaj, Deorali Samaj, janJagaran Kalyan Sangh. Inspite of the heavy rains and bad weather, 25 units of blood was collected. The figure could have been much more only for the fact that almost 15 donors were rejected due to lack of haemoglobin. Even then the number of units collected was satisfactory.

In addition to the blood donation camp, shri. Sandep Jain (General Secretary of IRCS- Kalimpong District Committee) also graced the occasion along with his team and handed over various relief material for our proposed service projects. Dr. Swaroop Khan, MO- Kalimpong District Blood Centre was also present to oversee proceedings and ha too was very positive about working with Rotary and explained the future prospects of the Blood Centre.

Maam Senora Namchu- Newly elected Sabhasad of GTA also graced the occasion by her presence and talked about women empowerment and showed positive vibes for Rotary Club.

All guests, donors and volunteers were offered khadas and organization were offered Rotary memento.

Tea, juice, fruits and snacks were served to all followed by lunch in the afternoon.

President Rtn. CA Sumit Jindal greeted all the present and thanked everyone for their valuable contributions for making this camp a great success. Many other Rotarians were present and donated blood and helped in the efficient conduct of the camp. The first Lady Ann Suruchi Jindal was also present along with other Anns’ and lets’.

She too presented khadas and certificates to donors along with other Rotarians. Overall it was a satisfying day of community service where 25 units of Blood was collected. The community service Director could not be personally present due to health reasons but he was continuously monitoring the proceedings over the phone. The day ended with thanks to the Kalimpong District Blood Form and all others involved in the successful conduct of the camp.
