27/4/25 RC Kalimpong’s Health Preventive & Curative Committee’s Chair Husband and wife duo Rtn Dr Anisha Rai and Rtn Dr Gaurav Chettri conducted a Dental Hygiene camp in the premises of Bal Suraksha Abhiyan (BSA). A total of 41 girls ranging from the ages of 7 to 18 were given a thorough dental check up. Dental advice was given and proper brushing techniques were also taught. Prizes were awarded to two girls with the best maintained dental hygiene. All the girls were given a toothbrush and toothpaste. The two Rtn Dentists were assisted by Dr S Pradhan and Ram.
Present too were Rtns President Sheila Rai Fudong, Secretary Col PC Thapa, Cmdr Dilram Gurung and last but not least Karan Pradhan. RC Kalimpong is grateful to Sr Subeshna for going out of her way to accommodate us, especially poignant because late Pope Francis was an Hon Rtn of RC Buenos Aires in 1999 when he was an Archbishop. He is the only Pope known to have accepted such an invitation. As the Pope he invited nearly 9,000 Rotarians from 80 countries to a Jubilee Audience in the Vatican in 2016 praising them for the humanitarian work they were doing especially in the field of polio eradication. He urged Rotary to promote peace and solidarity. Mention must also be made of Sr Jessica, Sr Sushma and Sir Vikash Pradhan of BSA for their support.
