On 20 December 2025, the Rotary Club of Kalimpong created history by launching its first Motorbike Rally under the global Rotary theme “End Polio Now.” The successful execution of the rally was the outcome of three months of detailed planning, route recce, and coordinated efforts by Rtn Vishal Gurung, Secretary of the Club, with active support from Rtn Karan Pradhan and Rtn Abhishek Pradhan. The team was guided and mentored by President Rtn Col A. K. Gogoi, Rtn Vikash Golyan and Rtn Mukesh Changia. The rally was flagged off from the Rotary Centre, Kalimpong, at 0900 hours on 20 December 2025 by DSP Shri Bhanu Rai on behalf of Shri Shrihari Pandey, DIG (IPS) and SP, Kalimpong. Escorted by riders from the Kalimpong Police, the rally passed through Algarah, Lava, Gorubathan, Samsing, Kumai Mor, and Jhollung, before culminating at Parengtar where it merged with the Kholeydai Festival, a three-day harvest festival organised by the local community and various volunteer organisations. The rally saw participation from 12 bikers, including three lady riders. A special mention goes to Rtn Col Kunga Sherpa, who returned to riding after a 28-year hiatus to support the noble cause, making the event even more memorable.
