On Sunday, July 20, 2025, the Rotary Club of Kalimpong hosted a successful camp at Mani Memorial Primary School in Sindebong. The event aimed to achieve three main objectives: facilitating a Blood Donation Camp, supporting the Animal Resource Development Department’s efforts with the Kalimpong Animal Shelter, and promoting the services of the Kalimpong District Volunteer Blood Donors Forum and Kalimpong Blood Centre at the District Hospital.
The camp was presided over by President Col Ashok Gogoi, alongside the First Lady Mrs. Pasan Gogoi, Immediate Past President Sheila Rai Fudong and esteemed members including Rtn Col Prakash Thapa, PP Sanjogita Subba, Rtn Dr. Deven Pradhan, Rtn Dr. D P Pandey, Rtn Karan Pradhan, Rtn Rajat Dalmia, Partner Sonia Dalmia and Rtn Ritika Singh.
From 11:00 am, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement as community members arrived to donate blood. Donors were rewarded with lunch boxes and certificates, recognizing their compassionate contributions to the community’s health. Among the dedicated volunteers, Rtn Karan Pradhan was among those who generously donated blood, reflecting the spirit of giving that characterizes this annual event. All the blood doners were given one Credit card to get 1 unit of blood free of cost from Blood bank District Hospital Kalimpong.
As the clock struck 12:00 pm, the camp gained momentum, attracting many pet owners from both nearby and distant locales. These individuals brought their pets for vital treatment and medical assistance, showcasing the dual focus of the camp on human and animal welfare. The intervention of the hospital and animal shelter staff was commendable, as they diligently ensured that the camp was well-organized and effectively managed. Rtn Dr. DP Pandey conducted 20 ABC operations and treated 50 animals and given preventive medicines. There were 21 units of blood collected.
In summary, the camp was not only a testament to the ongoing commitment of the Rotary Club of Kalimpong to the community’s well-being but also served as a reminder of the collective efforts of volunteers dedicated to improving lives, both human and animal. We greatly appreciate the support of the people from Sindebong and nearby areas for making the camp a success. The overwhelming response from the community reinforces the importance of such initiatives, making them a cherished part of Kalimpong’s social fabric.
