Report of Positive Health ‘Know your Numbers’ Camp
A ‘Know your Numbers’ health camp was organised by the Chair Rtn Rakesh Sinhal and his Preventive and Curative Health Committee for Rotarians and their families on the morning of the 4thJuly ’21. The venue was our Rotary Centre. The Chair had organised a team of lab technicians from the Shree Tibet Diagnostic Centre to do the needful ie to measure the height, weight, blood pressure, blood sugar, haemoglobin, BMI, pulse and oxygen saturation. ECGs were also measured. To sum up, the basic parameters of routine preventive health check up were carried out. The technicians worked in tandem with the Community service Chair Rtn Dr S Zimba and the Health Committee Co-Chair Rtn Dr Gaurav Chettri. After everyone’s vitals were measured a brief meeting was held. The President Rtn Col PCThapa welcomed everyone by explaining why such a programme was necessary. He also expressed his gratitude on behalf of the Rotary Club of Kalimpong to the lab technicians who were thenfelicitated with khadas. Community Service Chair Rtn Dr S Zimba gave a succinct talk on health matters. He explained the significance of the ‘numbers’ and the importance they played in maintaining good health. The Health Committee Chair Rtn Rakesh Sinhal also spoke a few words about the camp and why it was necessary to do follow up especially by those whose ‘numbers’ did not certify a clean bill of health. He reported that a total of 32 persons had been reviewed for preventive and curative health in this camp. He also mentioned that his team would be holding such a camp for the community at large in the near future. The meeting was adjourned by the President for a round of tombola followed by potluck lunch very successfully organised by PP Rtn Indira Bose.
